I am NOT a Doctor, nor do I claim to be...

I am calling this blog DR DEB, not because I am a doctor, but because those are my initials Deborah Ruth. I had an email with those two initials and my last name and it wasn't until much later that it occured to me that, it could be read as "Doctor ... and my last name, it made me giggle.
For some inexplicable reason I seem to be a girl that has a gift for talking to and listening to others. I think it has to do with the fact that I do in fact care about other people. I have this deep and abiding respect and affection for humanity. Despite difficulties I have expereinced in my past, people as a whole are I think good. Individuals, on a one to one basis, are even more remarkable.
I firmly believe that every person with breath has some thing in themselves worthy of notice and loving. Some times it is just one thing, or several and unfortunately there are people out there who's bad qualities far out way that good, but it does not negate that the good is there.
One of my great joys in this life is to talk to new people and find out about them that thing or things worthy of loving. Find it and point it out to them and encourage them to magnify that thing. It is not something I think that can be taught, but is instead something intrisic to my character, this love of people and powerful desire to help and serve them.
To that end I am creating this blog. I want a place to put my advice and ideas, a place where others can contact me should they need a little positivity, perhaps I'll have a pod cast. I do want to have an advice column, that has been suggested to me foricbly lately by friends.
I would like also to have chat associated with the site, eventually but for now will share my Skype contact information if you need to talk.
(if you haven't down loaded the program from you should, it is free, and you don't need to have a web cam or microphone to use it, it can be just for Instant Messaging in text as well and has smooth and fast file sharing as well. Best of all it can make voice and video calls to another computer anywhere in the world for free! I now have friends in South Africa, Australia, the Philippines and all over Canada and the states i can talk to when ever, its great! I highly recommend it! http://www.skype.com )
Again I am NOT a qualified professional. I have taken a lot of psychology courses, (and hope someday to be licensed) and am a experienced practitioner of hypnosis (but again with out the little piece of paper indicating I am a 'professional'). I also participated in some form of therapy or another on and of coming on to 20 years. I have read tomes on the subject and practiced my listen skills for the whole of my life. I cannot promise to help you overcome your difficulties, I cannot prescribe or diagnose, but if what you need is a compassionate person outside your life to listen and perhaps help you get a little different perspective. THAT I feel infinitely qualified for.
So thanks for stopping by, and here's hoping you have joy and love in your life and good mental health!
with affection,
Your new e-friend
Debbie
